Underground Waste Collection System

Underground Waste Collection System

Approved by Community

The waste collection area near the residential buildings could be modernised through the installation of an underground waste collection system, replacing the existing surface containers. The proposal would consist of creating an integrated waste collection point with separate disposal units for different types of waste, such as general waste, paper and cardboard, packaging and glass. Only the access openings would remain visible above ground, with the containers themselves installed below street level. As well as reducing the visual impact of large waste containers on the street, this solution would create a cleaner and more organised public space. Underground systems can also provide greater storage capacity while helping to protect waste from wind, rain and some animals. The installation could be combined with a small improvement of the surrounding area, using suitable paving and, where possible, some landscaping to create a cleaner and more harmonious space that fits better with the residential development.
